Who - Michael Ulrich

Michael Ulrich, owner/operator has 35 years of experience in the field of Restoration Ecology. His introduction to this applied ecological science was as an intern at the International Crane Foundation (ICF) in Baraboo, Wisconsin. He then attended graduate school at the University of Wisconsin – Madison in Landscape Architecture.

At ICF he was employed in converting a burnt out sand farm to native vegetation, collecting prairie and wetland species seed from local remaining natural plant communities. This experience is being reapplied in Leelanau County Michigan where he is again incorporating native vegetation into an abandoned sand farm.

Following graduate school and on the awarding of his first contract with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, he founded Inner-coastal Ecological Services (ICES). ICES is an ecological services and design company, conducting botanical inventories, site assessments, restoration planning and much more.
